356 triangular-cut diamonds and a curved sapphire crystal sparkle like a comet, a breathtaking display of its complex gravitational movement
The Astronomia watch has become the icon of Jacob & Co. Maison with its technical sophistication and outstanding charisma. Following the Tourbillon, Sky and Clarity models, Meteorite is a jeweled version of the turbulent aesthetic.
This watch has a strong visual impact, reflecting a celestial body - a fragment of an asteroid passing through the atmosphere and hitting the Earth's surface. The mysterious and sought-after meteorites have always been revered as sacred objects by many civilizations.
The meteor shower marks the night sky from August 7 to August 9. To commemorate this unique annual event, the brand presents Astronomia Meteorite. For this remarkable piece, Jacob & Co. boldly opted for a triangular cut.
To obtain this rare form - which the brand calls an "architectural cut" - a large number of rough diamonds are lost in the cutting process. The back of the gemstone, the pavilion, has been highlighted to give the movement maximum brilliance. Diamonds totaling over 35 carats mirror each other in an infinite mirror game.
Illuminated by the gem's multiple facets, the vertically conceived movement follows the wild chase of its four satellites. The first contains a swirl consisting of three axes (60 seconds, 5 minutes and 20 minutes), the second provides hours and minutes, and the third makes 288 faceted Jacob-cut blue sapphires on their own in 60 seconds The spin, the last one, which also spins in 60 seconds, represents the Earth in the form of a painted and hand-painted magnesium ball.
